What type of carpet should I choose?

Updated: Oct 9, 2019

Making the right decision on what type of material to use is SO important when buying carpet. Sure, you'll have plenty of choice with the design and colour, but the type of material you choose will have a massive effect on it's performance so here's a few handy tips to help you make the right decision...

If you have pets and/or a young family then 100% Polypropylene carpet's are a good place to start. They are resistant to bleach so really easy to keep clean and they are great value for money, they will show signs of wear sooner than the alternatives but with regular hoovering they will look like new for at least 3 years.

If you want something that's super hard wearing then a wool mix is a great option. The popular mixes are 80/20, 50/50 and 100% wool. Wool is a very robust material so you should expect this to look like new for 5 years or so. You can get some beautiful designs in wool carpets so if you want a stunning look inside your home then this choice could be for you but it will push the budget up a bit.

If you want the best of both worlds, so hard wearing and also bleach cleanable, then solution dyed Polyamide is what you need. It's really tough but also bleach cleanable so it's almost indestructible! Once again this option will cost you more but is an excellent long term investment, they should look like new for 5-10 years if taken care of properly.

Get in touch if you need any advice on what to go for and we can give you an estimate over the phone for all of the above options.
