Why is 'Greige' and 'Grey' so popular?

Gone are the days when grey would suggest old and drab. Thanks to the development of new shades, grey is no longer considered cold and uninviting when used in a home. The trending greys with warmer undertones means this colour is a desirable and fitting shade for any room in your home.

Choosing a warm grey allows you to be creative and have fun with other colors when considering wall paint. Whether you plan to continue with neutral shades or incorporate bold colors, grey flooring will always complement any furnishings you choose to bring in. It also means you are not limited in future decorating projects proving to be a great versatile option.

The colour 'greige' has recently been coined in the industry, which is a mix of warm grey and beige - another neutral colour which will stand the test of time. Just like the greys, it can complement colours ranging from bright whites to bold blues and greens. These make the perfect base colours to use in a bedroom for any age range.

Light greige can be perfect for nurseries, as it looks beautiful with gentle neutrals, soft yellow, blush and baby blue. You may consider choosing a timeless grey for a teenage bedroom so as your teen grows, he or she will be able to change the décor without needing to repaint the walls, friendlier to the bank balance!

Of course, you may be after a specific feel for your grey rather than choosing these for their ability of creating a durable neutral base. Greys with blue undertones are peaceful and relaxing, bringing a feeling of calm whereas a grey with darker brown undertones can help create a cosy space.
